The Place
Reserve Vāyu occupies a narrow isthmus on the south coast of Lombok — a coastline almost entirely undeveloped, separated from the busier bays of Kuta Lombok by a ridge of unfarmed jungle. The property begins where an old coconut plantation ends and a near-private bay begins. From the air, the resort is barely visible; it has been deliberately composed to disappear into the landscape. Bumbang Bay itself, sheltered by two reef points, holds no other dwellings beyond two fishermen's houses at its northern end, who supply the kitchen daily. The water is the pale jade green of an unfished reef. The sound of the sea arrives before the view does.
